Netflix series, Unsolved Mysteries, Missing Witness episode 6 follows the case of Lena Chapin. Lena grew up with her five sisters, constantly moving from town to town, based on whoever their mother, Sandy, was with at the time. In Lena’s preteen years, the family moves to a farm owned by their stepfather, Gary McCullough.
But a few years later, Lena’s mother Sandy begins her next affair with a 21-year-old named Kris Klemp. Garry caught word and wanted to file for divorce. That is when Garry is found missing. 3 days later, Sandy tells the local sheriff that Gary never came home but when asked to take a polygraph test, she refuses. Lena who is 13 at the time, is the only one who knows what really happened to Garry.
Holding onto this secret, Lena, now 17, finally tells Garry’s brother that her mother had shot him and had forced her to help clean up the crime scene.
A few years later, when a wrongful death civil lawsuit is brought against Sandy by Gary’s family, the local sheriff tries to serve Lena with a subpoena. That is when everyone acknowledges Lena is missing.
Lena’s sisters believe that their mother, Sandy, killed Lena. But there is only one thing missing, the body.
Echo GPR was asked to visit the former Klemp Farm in Salem, Missouri where Sandy was living a few months after Lena’s disappearance. We conducted a scan of the farm grounds. Using ground penetrating radar equipment this would allow us to narrow down on a focused area and give investigators an indicator if they should dig for evidence.
Unfortunately, no evidence was found and the search for Lena Chapin’s missing body continues.
